It is the most innovative, fastest and easiest way to get around town. In a matter of seconds, I could be on the next bus, with my luggage, and be on my way in minutes. Uber makes my day!

Uber in Houston is making taxi companies more of a driving service, and drivers will be able to dispense money, wear sunglasses, even play their favorite songs. And in San Francisco, it's over. Uber and Lyft, the two largest ridesharing services, have been in a head-to-head battle with taxi drivers. The taxi industry is at risk of taking its last ride in the US, especially if a courts prevents Uber and Lyft from coming to California.

However, the price of these $11 an hour boats are causing a deep rift within the Houston community, because the boats ride without control and are unlicensed, which is a liability in a public place. These cars pose an increase risk to the neighbourhood, especially the teeny houses located in what is known as "the bottom bracket".

For most drivers in my area, Uber offers a free "scheduled ride" with a minimum of 1 minute between request and arrival time, but this option is not open to all. The cost is $5.25 on average. The average fare for taxi rides is $0.35. The majority of drivers working for Uber in Houston, according to the app, are first-time users who use the app for the first time between 6:30am-9:30am or between 11:30pm-2am on weekends. My friends and I, myself included, like to spend a few bucks for a short break from our usual trips. Some of our favorite spots are to a comedian's lunch, to some brunch at a local bakery, or to a restaurant located within walking distance of our apartment building. An Uber ride to the SXSW festival costs less than $1.
